Sydney Director Courtney Dawson releases her debut Documentary 'Advance Australian Film'.

Culture to watch: Advance Australian Film

(Written  by Courtney Dawson)

Why has it been 21 years since an Australian film has reached number one at the yearly box office? I spoke with people from different sectors (including actors, directors, exhibitors, publicists, historians) to discuss the current climate, and ways we can move forward in the future.

The film also examines the changes that are occurring across the world, with crowd-funding, social media marketing and alternative distribution models empowering filmmakers like never before, and changing the way movies are being produced and accessed. We are currently experiencing a huge turning point in cinema.
